AutoTCO is built around anonymity: there are no user accounts, no email collection, and no payment processing anywhere in the product. This page explains exactly what little data we do collect, why, and how you can control it.
No accounts, no personal profile
AutoTCO never asks you to sign up, log in, or provide your name, email address, or any other identifying information. Every comparison you create is tied only to an anonymous session identifier, not to you.
What we store
The cars and assumptions you enter (ownership horizon, mileage, prices, and any other cost fields you fill in) are stored so your comparison can be reloaded from its share link and so we can calculate results — nothing more. If you use the feedback form, the message and category you submit are stored as you wrote them; we don't ask for contact details.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of first-party cookies purely to remember your own choices: which language and light/dark theme you've picked, and your preferred currency and distance unit. These are strictly functional — they don't track you across other websites and aren't used for advertising.
Cookie consent and anonymized activity logs
We keep a basic log of actions (like adding a vehicle or exporting a comparison) to understand how the product is used and to diagnose problems. If you accept cookies, this log is linked to a persistent anonymous session id, so we can see that the same visitor took several actions across a visit. If you decline, we still log the same kind of events, but each page load gets a fresh, disposable identifier that isn't stored and can't be linked to any other visit. Either way, we never record your IP address, device fingerprint, or other browser-identifying details in this log. Change this choice any time from “Cookie preferences” in the footer.
How we use this data
Solely to run the comparison you asked for, to remember your preferences between visits, to keep the product working, and to understand in aggregate how it's used so we can improve it. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Who else sees it
AutoTCO doesn't use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Your data is processed on infrastructure we operate or contract directly, and isn't shared with any other company for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
We don't yet have a fixed retention or deletion schedule for stored comparisons and activity logs — this section will be updated with concrete timeframes once one is defined.
Your rights
Because comparisons and logs aren't tied to your identity, we generally have no way to look up “your” data by name or email — there's nothing to search for beyond a share link or session you already hold. If you're in the European Economic Area or another jurisdiction with data protection rights (access, correction, deletion, objection, portability) and believe we hold data linked to you specifically, reach us via the feedback form on our Support page and we'll do what we can, though the anonymous design of the product limits what's technically identifiable as “yours.”
Children
AutoTCO isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone below the age of digital consent in their country.
